RULES

ELIGIBILITY:

The WPTA Youth Piano International Competition welcomes pianists of all nationalities, with applicants ranging from at least 3 years old to 18 years of age. The competition offers a composer series and a musical form series for Wind, String, Keyboard, and Percussion instruments.

SELECTION and AWARD:

The competition comprises two elimination rounds: Preliminary and Final. The same video submission will be used for adjudication in both rounds. For each category, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention awards will be selected, and the winners' names and countries of origin will be listed on the Winners page. An additional award, "The WPTA Youth Piano International Competition Grand Award," is presented to recognize exceptional performances throughout the year. Performance videos will be posted on our website and social media platforms, and winners will receive Diplomas. The decisions of the jury in the Preliminary and Final rounds will be final. The Preliminary round is free of cost.

REQUIREMENTS for FINAL ROUND:

Applicants who pass the Preliminary round will be notified via email and proceed to the Final round. A non-refundable application fee of US$100.00 must be paid at the time of application submission for the final round.

VIDEO RULES:

All video files must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Solo pieces must be performed from memory, while chamber groups may use sheet music.

  • The video angle must clearly show the applicant's face and hands during the performance.

  • The video must have been filmed within six months of submission.

  • No editing is permitted in the video.

  • The video must be posted on platforms such as YouTube, Youku, or bilibili, titled as "WPTA Youth Piano International Competition."

  • In the Description field, include the Participant's Name, Age, Country, and the Title and Composer's name of the piece.

RIGHTS AND RESERVATIONS:

Participants are deemed to have agreed to the competition participation regulations and disclaimer upon completing the application procedure. Videos submitted for the competition, including participants' likeness and performances, may be used for promotional purposes. The WPTA Youth Piano International Competition assumes no responsibility for any actions performed by users based on the information provided on this website.
